HM- My sister

February 29, 2008

Without a doubt my Happy Moment of the day was with my sister. She is 15 and at that age when depending on when you catch her she is either a young woman or an older kid. The older kid version creeps out (sometimes despite her best efforts) when she is tired. I love her like this because her brain is still that of a lovely and intelligent young woman but her soul and body still retain the freedom and lack of self-consciousness associated with adolescence. Today after a great dinner courtesy of dad, her and I lounged in the chaisse-longue. Me sitting in it and her sitting between me legs. My legs were draped around and over hers and her head was leaned back on me shoulder. We sat like that talking about books she was reading and how her day went and her week-end plans for a good 10 minutes- and eternity for a girl her age. She was happy to have me stoke her hair and I was all too happy to have this lovely intimate alone time with my beloved little sister. She really is a wonder.

Realizing that a simple moment needs to be meditated and responded to takes more intelligence and planning than designing, building and occupying a small village.
I appreciated your sentiments very much.
    Cheerio.
