Mothers’ Day

I’m not seeing anyone and I’m not trying to get pregnant, but I do want children very much and yesterday was hard. Seeing armies of little kids running around the city carrying bouquets bigger than their heads was hard. Seeing very pregnant women patting their bellies, knowing that they were thinking ‘this time next year…’ was hard. Even calling my wonderful friends who are wonderful moms to wish them well was hard. So when the mother of all mothers, Mother Nature, saw fit to send me the first day of my period on Mothers’ Day, it just kinda felt like a cosmic slap in the face.
